Deck life

outdoor life
This is where we’ll be until September comes. Lots of kids, lots of food, lots of wet towels, and lots of fun for the most part.

It’s even nice to sit under the canopy during a good rain storm and just take a break from the sun and the hubby and I like to sneak out at night with a bottle of wine and enjoy sweet peace and quiet until the little people realize we’ve slipped away and come and . This is the first summer that I will be back at work since having Julia and I’m a bit sad, she’s thrilled to finally be old enough to attend camp.

I will only work 4 days, 9-2:30 so it’s really not that awful. Sammy will have some babysitting jobs and Gabby, well………we need to find something for that one to do besides brood all day.

Enough of that, I managed to get one thing sewn together that was cut and waiting at the machine for over a month now:
Hey, it’s not much but it’s progress at least.

I almost forgot!!!!
Go check out The Flickr Embroidery Blog http://flickrembroidery.blogspot.com/ Feeling Stitchy where you will read a riveting interview with yours truly. OK, riveting may be pushing it a bit, but it was fun :)

Softball is over. Well, Julia still has Peewee Softball but it isn't as time consuming for us as the big girls'.
I may sew something this weekend.
keep your fingers crossed for me.
See you soon!

I used to make stuff

*sigh*
I used to make things.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy watching a good game (or 5 a week!) of softball just as much as the next mom but my creativity is being stifled something awful. There just isn’t any time to get anything going.
*sigh*
Even work is busy.
I am the party planner at work and did have a good time planning May’s Agency Lunch and was able to squeeze in a teeny bit of crafting. We celebrated Quattro de Mayo out in the courtyard with burritos from a local Mexican take out joint. The boys wore sombreros and I made tissue paper flowers for the girls to wear. The tables were festive with colorful tablecloths and Guadalupe candles and the boss stuffed a piƱata with money. Good times, good times.
This is how I found my desk the next morning.
no crafts this week either

Speaking of things I used to make, I wanted to show you something I made before I met you. I found this pattern in an old Workbasket envelope from a lot I won on Ebay. I have been hanging clothes out lately and enjoying this bag so thought I would share it. Cute, eh?

when I grow up

I want to be just like her:
Lori&Derek

Does it matter that she's a little bit younger than me? cough*10years*cough
This is a teacher at our school and also someone who I've become good friends with over the years. It doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous, smart, funny and had dinner with Derek Jeter, I think she's just a really great person. We are both playing this karma game with each other lately. She thinks that I'm pretty nice and appreciates the good things that I do, so she does good things in turn for me. For instance: she gave my daughter ski passes this past winter so that she could go on this ski vacation with her friends which we would have otherwise not been able to afford. That night at her other job at a very fancy restaurant her regular customers left her crazy-generous tips, out of the blue, that more than covered her ski passes.

Then, she gave me a very expensive piece of jewelry that a guy gave to her as a gift and refused to take it back after she explained that she was never going to like him, like him...... anyway, she wants my daughter to have it as a graduation gift. What 14 year old gets the blue box for 8th grade graduation????

Maybe that was karma that helped land her that dinner with Derek Jeter or it could be that she is gorgeous, sweet, funny and knows more about baseball than most men......who knows? Anyway, you get the point. You always hear how karma can be a bitch but karma can also be Tiffany necklaces, dates with Derek Jeter, gifts for your kids when you don't know where you'll find the money and most of all just a feeling of doing good. I am only giving you the glitzy examples here. This woman does so much good as an educator and as friend that she will be riding the karma train for a loooong time.

As for me, I am hoping that the karma train will stop at my sewing machine soon and let me off for an extended visit. My needs are simple people, besides my neck is too fat for that necklace.... I already tried it on.

100 Posts in 202 days!

Wow, I am shocked at myself!
I didn't think that I would keep up with it for this long or as often as I do. I didn't have any idea where I was going with this blog thing....... um ....... I guess it's never really going to go anywhere or really going to say anything but that's ok, right? I think we all write what it is we like or need to read from other blogs. I like mine with pretty pictures of cool things that people make and a few pictures of their famillies. I like the writing to be light and fun and pretty quick to read because I don't have a whole lot of time or attention to invest in deep or very long posts.

I am amazed to this day that ANYONE actually reads and comments on my humble and somewhat goofy little blog. Thank you to all of you that I have met here! It puts a giant smile on my face when I get a comment from you.
I leave you in typical Carol fashion...... I am super bitchy with PMS, piles of laundry and no time to sew. Feel free to leave me some feedback, requests, constructive critcism on my little blog, but just remember, I warned you about the PMS thing ;)
See you during the week!

Fun mail at MY door!

Maybe the mail sorter read my last post and decided to give me a thrill by putting my fun mail in with my junk mail and bills yesterday because all of it came right here and not to 555 Clarion Street! I have been wanting this fun Michael Miller Retro Rascals print for a very long time
yay! new fabric!
This is a full yard.... imagine how many things I can make if I ever have a few sewing hours ever again.
Then there was this very exciting package, don't mind the color it was taken at pre-dawn:
moo!
My flickr Moo cards! I just love them!!!! If I ever start selling things, they will make a really cute tag. If I never sell anything then I have a bunch of cute cards and am out 20 bucks.
Our new pool is in and filling up with water.
the new pool
They ran into a few problems, unfortunately. Since the old pool was, um old, the standard size has changed so the deck will need to be patched/rebuilt in areas. No biggie, the husband has a friend that will help us as long as I cook a few meals and we offer a few beers. I can handle that.
My next post will be my 100th post. I'm kind of wiped out this week so I doubt it will be very profound or celebratory, besides you may think you were at the wrong blog if it were!!
Have a great day :)
