T is for tip

As you, my faithful readers (all 5 of you!) know.... I have a strong affection for rick rack as well as other trims. You probably may also know that I have no money which is what led me to this handy idea:
I buy those cheap packages of multicolored, pre-wound bobbins and use them on top of the machine where the thread goes when I need to sew on a few inches of rick rack. It saves me from having to buy full spools of every color thread that I may not ever need (yes, I am that broke!)
There ya go, I'm not sure if this is already common knowledge but as far as I know, I made it up.
Have a great Monday :)

That is so Heloisey of you. Great idea. Even if you have money to buy lots of thread, you may not have anyplace to store it all. And did you know thread can go bad? I just found that out when using some that had to be at least 20 yrs old. You should send that idea into one of those crafty magazines, you could be famous!

This is an excellent tip! Thread in a variety of colors is expensive and my family always thinks I'm nuts when I ask for sewing machine thread for Christmas...

This is a great tip! And I shall admit I didn't know they even made pre-wound bobbins so I learned another new tip, too. Thank you!

Great idea!! Hey, we must be crafty AND thrifty! Thread has gotten pretty expensive! I snatch it up at garage sales and thrift shops whenever I find it. Hub always says--"how much of that do you need?" He doesn't get that there are a gazillion different shades of every color, lol!

I love the tip! It adds up to buy a spool for each color of trim and ric rac! Wonderful idea. Love your blog-encyclopedia. A pleasure to read.
